GOOD DAY! How do you do? Guest blogger Laura here once again, in an attempt to delight you with a little bookish, artish, something-or-other.
I love Harry Potter. There. I said it.
When we were nippers, my little brother was obsessed with trains. This led our thoughtful Grandma to buy him Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, purely because there was a big red steam engine on the front. Little did she know that soon, thousands, millions, BAZILLIONS (yes that’s a number) of boys and girls would be reading it too. I then, in big sister fashion, proceeded to steal it off him, thus, my love of J. K. Rowling’s wizarding world was born. Shazam!
Fifteen years later and this world is still linked to my own. The audio books (narrated quite fantastically by Mr Stephen Fry, the one man I wish I suddenly found to be a long lost relative of mine. We’d go on days out and eat ice cream and i’d make him do his Hagrid voice and he wouldn’t mind one bit!) are my all time favourite thing to listen to while i’m drawing. Knowing this, it is curious to me why I have never combined the two before. BEHOLD! Now I have. It feels very self indulgent but it’s very, very fun.
Three down, many more to go I hope!
Why not have a go at drawing a character from a favourite book of yours? It’s really fun. We’d love to see them! Put a link in the comments below so we can have a gander
Also, check out your local Bookstore or Library for more activities. Suggest a ‘draw your favourite character’ competition that you and all your friends can enter and the booksellers can judge!
Have a fab day. Over and out for now.
